School Development Planning

In our School Development Plan we set priorities for the year and plan Actions to improve our school. All Actions have planned Outcomes/Success Criteria, by which we can then judge our effectiveness. These actions are based on our evaluation of what we do well and what we need to improve. The most important indicator is SATs data, the results of tests taken every May by children in Year Six.

We were very disappointed by the SATs results in 2009 which were not in line with our track record or the expectations of our parents. As you may imagine, we have spent many hours analysing the results; there were  factors specific to the particular cohort of children but also wider issues that need to be addressed. For example, the specific preparation of Year 6 for these tests has been reviewed and we will be implementing several changes this year. Equally importantly, we are also fine-tuning our approach to teaching in Literacy and Maths across the school, to ensure  a sharper focus on progress in every year group.

Attached below is a summary of the key Actions to be taken this year to improve progress in Literacy and Maths.
